Short description:

Attractive evergreen ferns with long strap shaped bright green leaves forming upright clusters common in hazel woodlands and hidden deep in the limestone grikes throughout the Burren.  Spores are arranged in stripes along the underside of the leaves.

Past uses

Hart’s tongue fern was used medicinally in the past in Ireland in the treatment of burns
