The Burren holds over 70% of the flora of Ireland, making this relatively small limestone landscape an especially species rich environment. It is a botanical paradise for all plant lovers and the perfect area to explore and observe native wild Irish plants.
Limestone Landscapes
The Burren holds the largest area of limestone pavement in the world and within this relatively small area (the Burren is 465 square kilometres in area) there is a rich diversity of habitats and species typically associated with glaciated Karst landscapes
The Aran Islands are a geological extension of the Burren and hold a similarly diverse flora to that of the Burren with the exception of a few surprising botanical absences.
